Global Access, the provider of business-to-business technology assisted communication and training, partnered with Graphic Image Technologies (GIT) to provide a video carrier solution to Absa and Forecourt Television Network (FTN).
The partnership enables Global Access to create a cost-effective, expert marketing channel to meet the communications needs of their clients and have been implemented at approximately 600 Absa and 40 FTN sites.
Broadcasting from their premises in Johannesburg via satellite, Global Access provides Absa with an infotainment channel that is distributed to individual stations at various branches, offering entertainment, product information and advertising. FTN runs an advertising channel at garages around the country.
"The channels allow our clients to get their message out immediately and the content is updated regularly - some on a daily basis, some weekly. You can also have different content per site," says Dieter van Rooyen, Research and Development manager at Global Access.
"It also creates the perception of being a live channel but is far more cost-effective because you don`t need the staff or machinery necessary to run a live channel. The channel is centrally controlled and you don`t need human interface."
GIT`s Optibase encoder and decoder cards are responsible for encoding and playing back the information, enabling Global Access to provide a high quality and efficient service.
Says Mark Chertkow, MD of GIT: "We aided with the integration of the encoder and decoder cards into the software suite, allowing back to back video playback.
"We also provided support and input on the implementation and software integration side of things to help Global Access produce high quality, efficient playback and, ultimately, a good quality picture." says Chertkow.
Global Access was responsible for providing everything from installation to integration to maintenance.
"The task initially proved a major challenge, but with Global Access` exceptional service and our team`s technical expertise, we were able to successfully get project off the ground," says Chertkow.
GIT will continue to add value through ongoing support and services to Global Access.
