Global 360, a leading provider of business process management (BPM) and optimisation solutions, is pleased to announce that senior vice-president, Robert Shapiro, has been honoured with the Marvin L Manheim Award as presented by the Workflow Management Coalition.
The award, which has been presented annually since 2002 for significant contributions in the field of workflow, is being presented to Shapiro in recognition of his workflow design innovation and long-standing contributions to industry workflow and BPM standards.
Shapiro`s involvement with workflow and BPM began in the 1990s when he developed bridges between Meta Software Corporations BPA tools and a number of workflow products. "I am honoured to receive the Manheim Award. I have believed for many years that the ability to transfer process definitions between design tools, execution engines and analysis tools using internationally recognised standards would accelerate the development of business process management technology and enhance the benefits of this technology to the user community," said Shapiro on accepting the award.
"In particular, support of continuous process improvement, cycling through design, implementation, execution, monitoring, analysis and optimisation using simulation and goal directed techniques, offers significant economic benefits to the industry. I am proud to have worked with the WfMC and to have contributed to this ongoing effort."
As founder and CEO of Meta Software Corporation, Shapiro directed the implementation of a unique suite of graphical modelling and optimisation tools for enterprise-wide business process improvement. As a participant in the Workflow Management Coalition and chair of the working group on process definition interchange, he plays a critical role in the development of international standards for workflow and business process management.
"Shapiro`s contributions to the industry extend vastly beyond his participation to WfMC standards; he has been actively involved in promoting the use of workflow across the industry for many years," said Layna Fischer, WfMC General Manager. "There were several outstanding nominations, however, for this prestigious award and we thank all nominees for their efforts and participation."
In 2000, Shapiro formed a new company, Cape Visions, solely focused on reporting, analysis and forecasting for BPM systems. In January 2005, Robert Shapiro joined Global 360 as senior vice-president.
"Robert has been a driving force in the creation and promotion of graphical techniques for modelling, analysing and simulating complex systems," said Michael Crosno, President of Global 360.
"We are pleased that his efforts have been recognised by the Workflow Management Coalition."
The Workflow Management Coalition, founded in August 1993, is a non-profit, international organisation of workflow vendors, users, analysts and university/research groups. The coalition`s mission is to promote and develop the use of workflow through the establishment of standards for software terminology, interoperability and connectivity between workflow products. Consisting of over 300 members worldwide, the coalition is the primary standards body for this significant software market.
