International events platform Global Leaders, in association with SAS Institute South Africa, the leaders in business intelligence, is bringing global thought leader, much published author and Harvard Business School Professor Michael Porter to South Africa, for one event only.

Porter will be presenting on strategic competitiveness for the third millennium live in South Africa on 3 July 2007, at The Forum at The Campus in Bryanston.

Warren Cowan, Product and Marketing Director at SAS South Africa, the Global Leaders Africa Knowledge Partner, says: "SAS' philosophy revolves around giving business people the power of knowledge. As such, we have partnered with Global Leaders to bring Michael Porter to the country.

"Professor Porter has a vast store of knowledge to share, and can provide unique insights that will help South African business people to be able to compete, not only in the local market, but on a global scale as well."

Hailed as the "father of strategy", Porter created the groundbreaking concept of the value chain and captured the complexity of industry competition in five underlying forces. His impressive list of credentials has made him one of the world's most sought-after speakers, and an advisor to heads of state and CEOs of multinational organisations.

He was ranked first on the Thinkers 50 2005 global ranking of the most influential living management thinkers, has been awarded Harvard's David A Wells Prize in Economics for research in an industrial organisation, and was the winner of the George R Terry Book Award of the Academy of Management in 1985 for his book, Competitive Advantage. He has also received four first place McKinsey Awards for the best Harvard Business Review article of the year.

Porter will be addressing issues such as how to create and sustain competitive business in SA and how to integrate strategy with corporate social responsibility. He will also be sharing insights on the economic foundations of competition and new learning on the principles of strategy. He will be presenting his 2007 South African Competitiveness update, as well as his McKinsey award-winning work on corporate social responsibility.

Don't miss the chance to be inspired by the world's leading authority on strategic thinking. For information on how to book your seat, contact Jennifer Meyer at SAS on +27 11 714 3400 or visit www.globalleadersevents.com/porter.
