Global Micro has partnered with Vaultive to enable South African organisations to ensure the security and compliance of their cloud data.
Global Micro's expertise in managed services and implementation will be complemented by Vaultive's provision of persistent encryption gateways to retain ownership and control of cloud data.
The service will help to address the concerns of businesses ahead of the implementation of the Protection of Personal Information (POPI) Bill, which will require local businesses to comply with data protection regulation, as well as mandate similar protections for offshore data centres.
"The introduction of POPI will amplify the privacy, security, legal and regulatory compliance challenges that companies have faced when they look to take advantage of the business benefits and operational efficiencies of Hosted Exchange and Office 365," says JJ Milner, MD and chief cloud architect at Global Micro. "Ultimately, our partnership with Vaultive will ensure customers successful cloud migration and implementation, alongside complete ownership and control of their cloud data, removing all of the aforementioned concerns."
Vaultive's persistent encryption gateway encrypts data before it leaves the business network, ensuring that data stored in the cloud will not be intelligible should the security of the cloud fail, or should the data be subpoenaed by a law enforcement agency. This allows data owners to maintain more effective control over data stored in the cloud, regardless of where it is transmitted, stored and processed. By using data encryption, organisations can demonstrate fulfilment of POPI data protection and security requirements.
"Our partnership with Global Micro is aimed at resolving the concerns that have seen businesses and other organisations maintain services in-house due to stringent security requirements and that have limited them from taking advantage of the benefits of cloud-based services - Microsoft Office 365 and Hosted Exchange in particular," says Vaultive CEO Elad Yoran. "We look forward to working with the Global Micro team, with our unique approach tailored specifically to these environments to deal with cloud privacy regulations."
