The partnership between Stratus Technologies, the makers of the world's most reliable server technologies, and Mosaic Software, a leading provider of electronic fund transfer (EFT) software began in May 2001 in South Africa. It has proven to be a successful one for both companies and is focused on delivering continuously available solutions for electronic funds transfer (EFT) transactions to the financial services industry.
In the past year, Stratus and Mosaic Software have dominated the EFT market locally, winning every open tender, which has resulted in the implementation of 10 new financial switches in the country. This success has been mirrored internationall, with Mosaic Software and Stratus now working together in the United States, the United Kingdom and in some Asian countries.
Malcolm Anderson, channel manager at Stratus Technologies says, "the key reasons behind the success of this partnership is that the two companies complement each other's business strategies, are both equally committed to each implementation and offer a combined value proposition. Another key factor is the growth in demand for cost-effective, continuously available EFT solutions."
Willem van Biljon, director new business development and product strategy at Mosaic Software says, "The partnership with Stratus has presented Mosaic Software with a number of opportunities to broaden and strengthen our standing in the local market. By selecting a partner with mutual business objectives and corporate values, Mosaic Software and Stratus have benefited greatly as the relationship has ensured that both companies are better positioned to meet the needs of our EFT clients."
Today's customers expect around the clock quality service across a multitude of channels. This means providing excellent service 24 hours a day, through several channels such as phone, Internet, mobile and instore banking with little to zero downtime. To get ahead, financial institutions and retailers need an application that gives them a competitive edge.
Retail electronic commerce is growing steadily, credit card spending is increasing a a rapid rate and the number of ATMs worldwide is expected to grow by 50 percent in the next few years. These trends are driving financial institutions and retailers to deploy or upgrade their capabilities for handling electronic funds transfers (EFT)".
As customers become more empowered to manage their personal transactions through an increasing number of access channels, such as ATMs, Internet and phone, many businesses are required to upgrade their IT systems to ensure that the infrastructure can support next-generation financial solutions," says Anderson
The Positilion Solution from Mosaic Software is a modularised EFT transaction delivery system. It is used worldwide for ATM monitoring, EFT switching and routing, point of sale credit and debit card transaction processing, Internet and call centre payment authorisations and mobile commerce applications.
Positilion runs on Stratus ftServer, which provides the infrastructure for Mosaic Software to deliver excellent, cost-effective customer solutions to financial enterprises. It is a powerful and flexible financial solution that can provide the breadth of services needed to overcome the market challenges of providing consumer-generating transactions at every point of an EFT network, with Stratus ftServer systems functioning as the host computer.
The success of this relationship is one that we would like to emulate with other technology partners both locally and globally. A focus for Stratus in the coming months is the construction of a solid reseller channel to deliver solutions to the contact centres and enterprise telephony market segment as well as the process control and manufacturing industry," concludes Anderson.
