Global Technology firmly entrenched in Southern Africa

Johannesburg, 02 Oct 2000

Global Technology , part of JSE-listed Global Technology Limited, during August signed deals with the of Zambia and the Zambia National Building Society to implement GLOBUS, the world-leading banking system, during September. The Zambian deals combined are worth US$1,2 million, excluding implementation fees. These deals firmly entrench Global Technology`s leadership position in southern Africa.

Clement Mugala, Managing Director of the Zambia National Building Society, comments, "Through GLOBUS, Global Technology Banking has provided the Zambia National Building Society with an integrated systems environment in which we can strengthen our focus on improving service to our customers. In addition, this very secure system allows us to feel completely confident that our confidential is well-protected."

Similarly, GLOBUS was ideally suited for the Bank of Zambia`s requirements, as it is a very strategic central bank with high technical requirements.

As such, it requires a secure system with exceptional risk management capabilities, suited to the high demands of micro and macro environmental issues.

A further advantage for the two African institutions is that, through Global Technology Central Africa in Zimbabwe, quality local support is easily accessible and affordable to them. Global Technology combines international expertise with a great deal of experience in working in developing nations. Its implementation teams are used to dealing with the issues that arise in the African banking environment.

Ken Theron, CEO of Global Technology Banking, concludes, "For both of these banks, the implementations will result in a higher degree of reliability and access to data, as GLOBUS is a highly sophisticated product that offers a complete solution."
