Leading e-business software developer, Global Vision, has secured contracts to install its security risk management software, CHASE, at three major Western Cape casinos, namely Club Mykonos, Caledon and the Garden Route.
CHASE is the first software solution to successfully integrate all the security aspects surrounding casinos into a single, easy to manage electronic system. The version to be implemented, called CHASE ICOS (Integrated Casino Operating System), was modified specifically for the gambling industry in conjunction with SA`s National Gaming Board.
Patrick Beney, general manager of Club Mykonos, says: "One of the key benefits of CHASE is that it will bring all three casinos in line with the strict new regulations as specified by SA`s National Gaming Act. According to the Act, casinos are now required to maintain close surveillance measures at all times and to report all security related incidents to the National Gaming Board on a monthly basis."
Jon Jacobson, managing director of Global Vision, says: "Typically, security-related incidents at casinos are tracked and reported manually. CHASE allows officials to instantly capture incident information and generate automated reports on an as-needed as well as pre-scheduled basis.
"SA`s R6 billion a year gaming industry is under constant pressure to improve security at its gaming venues and, at the same time, to comply with the National Gaming Board`s reporting requirements. Up to now no single integrated solution has existed to assist casinos in electronically tracking security incidents and reporting them - despite the fact that this is now required by law."
The solution, CHASE ICOS, will incorporate a surveillance module. This will enable casinos to keep an electronic database of security incidents, compile reports and give casino managers a complete overview of all security-related activity through a single Web-based portal.
According to Beney, CHASE is a sophisticated and integrated security solution which sets new standards for the local gaming industry. "For the casino industry this is the first step to standardise on a totally integrated security solution which makes for easy tracking and reporting. CHASE pulls all security and surveillance information into a single database, which makes reporting and tracking very easy," he says.
Jacobson says: "We are currently working on the next release of ICOS which will cover another key risk area for the casinos which relates to banned individuals or `rip-off artists` gaining access to the casino. We will be using state of the art facial-recognition technology which will allow the casinos to identify these people at the casino entrance and take appropriate action."
CHASE modules include:
Reporting module
Reporting is a key component of this application and provides significant benefits to security managers. The advanced statistical reporting through integrated business intelligence components, allows for the development of multi-dimensional reporting, giving the users the ability to conduct advanced analyses of many types of data. CHASE also provides for the automated generation of reports, which can be pre-scheduled and automatically e-mailed to heads of departments.
Surveillance module
The CHASE surveillance module allows the security staff manning surveillance cameras to immediately report incidents spotted on the gaming floor to the relevant heads of department. The information generated from the surveillance modules comply with current gambling regulations.
Electronic incident book module
THE EIB module is used to build up a profile of an incident through details such as persons, suspects and property involved. New incidents are captured via a form-based input screen. All entries into the application have standard time/date/user stamps for audit trail purposes.
Incident mapping module
CHASE provides integrated Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping capabilities. The mapping component of the applications allows users to have a quick overview of statistics and crimes happening at different map locations.
Investigations module
Information regarding the investigation of incidents can be captured to the original incident profile. Only authorised security staff are able to add and amend investigation data, once again this protects the integrity of audit trail.
CHASE Mobile module
Security staff on the ground need access to information while on the move. CHASE Mobile allows components of CHASE to run on a PDA or cellphone so that staff can access critical information whenever and wherever they are.
