GlobeTOM takes Loyalty Rewards Programme Management to the cloud

Centurion-based software developer announced today it has successfully converted its first customer managing a loyalty rewards programme to its GP3 Product using the software as a service (SaaS) model in a public cloud.

Johannesburg, 04 Aug 2010

GlobeTOM has signed up the MoreGolf Group and, in particular, playmoregolfSA with Vodacom, which is now benefiting from the flexible GP3 SaaS for Loyalty Programme Management for its customer base.

The system receives customer service delivery event streams that are treated as potential loyalty event streams from a variety of data sources, and then uses configurable rate plans to award and manage loyalty rewards based on configurable business rules.

“While we always developed the GP3 product as a platform for the telecommunications market, we soon realised that the product lends itself ideally for Loyalty Programme Management services, and the SaaS model for GP3 is therefore ideally suited for customers in any vertical market wanting to expand their customer retention programme with a Loyalty Rewards Programme,” says Philip Stander, Managing Director of GlobeTOM.

“The GlobeTOM prepaid and post-paid platform (GP3 for short) was developed for telco-grade subscriber management, charging and balance management, and we have benchmarked the system to sustain thousands of transactions per second on a relatively small hardware footprint, and the system is truly carrier grade,” reports Henning Viljoen, GlobeTOM Technical Manager for the project.

“The system processes loyalty usage counters and loyalty rewards in real-time as users transact with service providers. In addition, the system keeps track of historical loyalty rewards and when points are used by customers, oldest points awarded are depleted first.”

The system is hosted at MWEB Business for public cloud usage and allows multiple service providers to register for usage. Each service provider owns their own customer base in a totally private environment and then manages their loyalty virtual currencies and rewards programmes.

GlobeTOM noted that a lot of companies are developing their Loyalty Rewards Programmes in-house and this adds to management overheads. The GP3 Loyalty Engine provides Web service access to customer loyalty rewards balances, awards (points) statements ideally suited for an environment where customer retention becomes important enough to treat loyalty rewards as currency and to deliver loyalty rewards statements to customers with the confidence that it is being managed by a dedicated purpose-built system.

For customers not ready for the public cloud for strategic services yet, the GP3 Loyalty Engine can also be deployed in the private cloud (ie, the service provider IT infrastructure) but still conforming to cloud computing principles.

“The MoreGolf Group is very pleased about the next generation platform that we have adopted for our Loyalty Rewards Programme. GlobeTOM was able to meet all our special requirements for our Loyalty Programme out of the box with the GP3 platform,” says Anton Jankowitz, Group Executive of the MoreGolf Group.
