Glotec beefs up presence in financial market Down Under

Johannesburg, 11 Feb 2002

Pioneer Permanent Building Society in Queensland, Australia, has bought the GLOBUS banking application and the CAEMS loan origination system. This significant sale was secured by Global Technology`s Australasian operation (GTA). Global Technology is a JSE Securities Exchange-listed company, while GTA is listed on the Australian Stock Exchange.

Robert Edge, MD of GTA, says: "Pioneer is one of Queensland`s fastest growing financial institutions and we are delighted to have them as a client. This contract represents a sensible, low-risk decision for Pioneer, which joins over 500 client sites worldwide using the GLOBUS banking system, and is a significant achievement for GTA. The deal strengthens our position in the building society market along with existing clients, GIO and NRMA Building Societies.

"A modern, flexible system that is tailored for Australian requirements is essential to the future prosperity of Australian building societies. The proven functionality of GLOBUS and CAEMS in deposits and lending, combined with ATM and Internet access, make GLOBUS a compelling alternative," says Edge.

Established over 30 years ago, Pioneer Permanent Building Society has 67 branches and agencies throughout Queensland and assets of well over AU$370 million. Pioneer offers a comprehensive range of banking services including savings, loans, insurance and business and rural services.

Kerry Latter, CEO of Pioneer Permanent Building Society, says: "Our commitment to continued success in an increasingly competitive market led us to seek out the best technology available. We needed to modernise our existing banking and lending systems, and GTA`s solutions will not only provide operational benefits, but also an increased range of value-add products and services that we will be able to deliver to our customers.

"Our aim is to continue to provide highly personalised regional banking services that are flexible and easy to use, to meet the changing needs of our customers. Implementing GTA`s banking and loan origination systems will underpin our strategic direction and provide a secure, proven growth path to support our future business needs," he concludes.
