Glotec`s Tenant Profile Network links to ITC

Johannesburg, 07 Jun 2002

Global Technology has announced that Tenant Profile Network (TPN), the company`s Internet-based tenant tracking service, is now affiliated with the Information Trust Corporation (ITC), South Africa`s largest consumer and business risk management information supplier.

TPN enables estate and letting agents to acquire prior leasing information on potential tenants. The deal with ITC was concluded in August last year, and since completion of the integration development, TPN is now able to provide general credit information on individuals. This includes judgments, defaults, notices and trace alerts. The ITC deal also allows agents to verify that the tenant`s ID number and name match, and that the ID number is not stolen or belonging to a deceased person.

Tenant Profile Network is a browser-based tenant rating application, b,uilt on Global Technology`s in-house web development technology (pSygn WebBuilder) it uses the IBM UniVerse database and is hosted by the Global Technology ASP department. It is expected that the MIS (management information system) functionality, to be included in the TPN application, will be completed by Q2 of this year.

"TPN is unique in that nobody else supplies tenant information to estate agents in this country," says Alan Williams CEO of Global Technology Services. "Access to ITC has strengthened TPN even further as we are now able to link to a comprehensive database and, in terms of our agreement, provide ITC information to our property market subscribers which TPN believes will add considerable value to risk assessment."

TPN provides estate agents dealing in commercial, industrial and residential properties with information on prospective tenants. This includes defaults listed by other agents regarding the tenant`s behaviour, such as damage to property, late payment, eviction or absconding and allows unwanted tenants to be listed. It also provides company directors` and members` details, as well as company and close corporation information including company status, registration number and track record.

Williams notes that this information is important as it allows estate agencies to ensure the person signing a lease agreement has the authority to do so. It also ensures that a company is still in business and has not been liquidated.

"It is essential for estate agents to obtain a history of how many companies an individual is a member or director of, and what the status of those companies is," says Williams. "Some individuals open up companies only to liquidate them every six months with rental owing."

The ITC link will enable agents to view any adverse information on a prospective tenants credit risk profile.

Says Williams: "The advantage of our affiliation with the ITC is that we are able to provide value-added risk solutions through the TPN application data. ITC offers the most recent information available on consumers and businesses. Its stringent data quality standards ensure accurate, up-to-date information that can be trusted."
