Go for gold

Johannesburg, 11 Sep 2009

Experian's Gold Report is an innovative, enhanced business risk report addressing the need for more intensive information at a better price.

Recently updated, it now includes more analyses, free style commentary and macro influences on the subject. The Gold Report is designed to provide in-depth research at an economical rate and is the most detailed of Experian's telephonically researched reports.

Over and above comprehensive business information on the debtor, the report now also provides enhanced benchmarking information that enables the client to compare the debtor's behaviour and risk against their peers across multiple industries and sectors.

The report includes business details, including trading names, contact details, addresses, registration and VAT numbers, and financial year-end. It shows the company structure and details of principals/directors, identifying all entities related to the subject and defining their relationship (this section includes information of the subject's current and previous principals).

The subject's operations and history is featured in all researched credit reports, as well as a SIC (standard industry or sector classification code). Furthermore, it contains banking details and financial information, which includes standard banking details, as well as banking codes (in line with NCA requirements) provided over the past 24 months. Financial information cannot always be supplied, except in the case of public companies, due to the lack of availability of public company financial information.

Business performance features historical payment information illustrating past payment behaviour, which includes trade references from at least four suppliers, court judgement information where applicable and KISS information. Additionally, an industry/sector and benchmarking analysis is shown - a first for South Africa. This feature benchmarks several key areas, such as sector analysis covering a macroeconomic overview; industry SWOT analysis, highlighting current industry strengths and weaknesses; payment behaviour of the subject compared to other suppliers; payment analysis, illustrating how the industry is behaving on average and a company benchmark comparing key indicators within the sector.

Through the credit risk assessment and KreditScore analysis, the subject is assigned a KreditScore, which is based on researched information on the subject and provides a single, consolidated view of the subject's credit risk profile.

An evaluation is carried out of all KreditScores calculated across the sector and compares the individual score to the sector in which it operates. A comprehensive comment by Experian expert assessors based on the subject's payment behaviour, company structure, capacity, historical information and all other researched elements, is included in the report.

Experian believes all these areas of investigation will enhance credit reporting and produce a quality document. It will assist the credit manager in assessing the risk, identifying potential areas where security may be requested, identifying the potential areas of risk and establishing whether any other creditors are preferred.

Service level options available are Express 48 hours, Express three days and normal delivery within five days. All reports are e-mailed or faxed and may be posted on request.
