
Google gears up for music service
Google is planning a music service that would let users store music in the cloud, reports CNN.
The details of Google's long-rumoured music service are starting to leak out; setting the scene for the roll-out of a cloud-based storage locker that users could keep their music in and stream it from anywhere.
Songs and albums can then be streamed or downloaded to any Internet-connected device, likely including Android phones and the forthcoming Google TV.
Dell powers up SME storage
Dell has unveiled a range of products to help small and medium enterprises (SMEs) upgrade their IT infrastructure as they grow, states V3.co.uk.
The portfolio includes PowerEdge servers, PowerVault network storage and a wireless networking kit, all designed to be easy to deploy and simple to manage, according to Dell.
"These are all tailored to what SMEs told us they need: help with constrained budgets, and products that are easy to deploy, install and configure," says Mark Smith, Dell's SME manager for the UK.
SafeNet, NetApp team up
SafeNet and NetApp have partnered to offer a new approach to storage security solutions, says SC Magazine.
The two companies claim the collaboration will provide customers with the ability to manage and protect their on-premise, cloud-based and virtualised data storage in a secure manner.
Tsion Gonen, corporate vice-president of products at SafeNet, says: “Working with NetApp enables us to offer data protection within the storage market. The end result is a robust security solution for customers that need persistent protection of and secure access to their data today and as they move to the cloud.”
