Google, VMware collaborate on cloud

VMware and Google are collaborating to better integrate cloud computing with Google Apps, states V3.co.uk.

The companies are working to integrate Java into Google programming through the Spring Java platform, with a focus on Google Apps for Business.

“VMware and Google are aligning to reassure our mutual customers and the Java community that choice and portability are of utmost importance to both companies. We will work to ensure modern applications can run smoothly within the firewalls of a company's centre or out in the public cloud environment,” says Paul Maritz, president and CEO of VMware.

Logicalis to open hybrid cloud in UK

Logicalis, a Web solution provider, is set to open a cloud computing operation in the UK, says ChannelWeb.

The company uses Cisco's unified computing system as a platform to build hybrid cloud solutions.

The hybrid cloud offering is defined by Chris Gabriel, director of marketing at Logicalis' UK operations, as: “A public cloud in a private sort of way”.

HyperOffice brings cloud collaboration to SMEs

HyperOffice has made its cloud messaging and collaboration suite available to small and medium-size enterprises (SMEs) with the release of the HyperOffice Collaboration Suite, writes Information Today.

The software-as-a-service solution gives SMEs Internet-shared online calendars, contacts, e-mail, document collaboration, project management, Web conferencing and other online business software productivity.

The Web solution has been rebuilt using AJAX and Web 2.0 technologies to increase the performance, scalability and of the platform.
