Green computing saves money

New technology called BigFix Power Management claims to save 80% of a PC's annual running cost and also reduce CO2 emission by 80%, says ITNews.com.au.

The technology is available in Australia and was revealed last month to audience members at AusCERT. inTechnology Distribution is in negotiation with 60 unnamed businesses regarding the technology.

It was developed over 12 months in the US and is now being launched globally.

HP, Dell popular in China

HP and Dell computers have been ranked fourth and fifth respectively in the Chinese desktop PC market, says Digitimes.

In the first quarter of 2007, HP and Dell have 7.7% and 7.2% respectively of the market share. They are ranked below three Chinese companies, Lenovo, Founder and Tongfang.

In the fourth quarter of 2006, HP was in fifth place and Dell in fourth, according to from the company Analysys.

LG releases chipset PC

LG will be releasing a desktop PC, called the Xpion X820L, with one of Intel's new 3-series chipsets, says Chosunilbo.

This desktop has an Intel Core Duo E6420 processor, an Intel P35 chipset, a 1GB DDR2 memory, a 500GB hard disc, an Nvidia GeForce 7650GS 512 MB graphics card and a super-multi DVD writer.

According to LG, the new chipset has improved processing speed by 25%.
