SecureData, a member of the JSE-listed ERP.com Group, and the African distributor for TippingPoint Technologies, today announced that GuardedNet's neuSECURE security management and incident response platform has been integrated with TippingPoint's Unity One Intrusion Prevention System to provide customers with a unified solution to proactively automate enterprise security functions.
TippingPoint's UnityOne Intrusion Prevention System and GuardedNet's neuSECURE security information management platform combined will allow joint customers the ability to proactively block network attacks while detecting malicious traffic occurring on non-protected network segments.
TippingPoint protects critical network segments from major threats, while notifications of these blocked attacks are sent to neuSECURE for correlation with other sources of information to help identify malicious traffic occurring on non-protected segments. Additionally, neuSECURE produces detailed reports on this data from its central repository for management, audit and regulatory bodies.
"Our Intrusion Prevention System provides detailed information on threats, but also proactively blocks them. It is an active element of the network," commented TippingPoint's Chief Technology Officer Marc Willebeek-LeMair. "By blocking attacks, it cuts down on the alerts from other security products."
"The joint solution from GuardedNet and TippingPoint offers companies the ability to combine intrusion prevention capabilities into an operational security management process that focuses on the business impact of security," added Rich Telljohann, vice-president of Marketing and Business Development for GuardedNet. "As the security marketplace moves from intrusion detection to proactive intrusion prevention, this partnership provides a solution that can support proactive policy enforcement and compliance, as well as incident management."
TippingPoint's UnityOne Intrusion Prevention System provides application protection, performance protection and infrastructure protection at gigabit speeds through total packet inspection. Application protection capabilities provide fast, accurate, reliable protection from internal and external cyber attacks. Through its infrastructure protection capabilities, UnityOne protects VOIP infrastructure, routers, switches, DNS and other critical infrastructure from targeted attacks and traffic anomalies. UnityOne performance protection capabilities enable customers to throttle non-mission-critical applications that hijack valuable bandwidth and IT resources, thereby aligning network resources and business-critical application performance.
GuardedNet's neuSECURE is a heterogeneous security management and incident response software solution designed to provide a centralised, comprehensive, coherent view of enterprise security. It correlates event data files from systems such as firewalls, intrusion prevention and detection systems, computer hosts, applications and routers and automatically analyses this data to uncover legitimate threats to the enterprise. neuSECURE allows security analysts to prioritise their investigations and focus on the mission-critical task of responding to threats as they are occurring, rather than after the damage is done. In one managed security provider environment, neuSECURE was able to cut average incident-handling times from greater than 30 minutes to less than three. With neuSECURE a security team can manage security threats from early detection to final resolution without ever leaving the intuitive, Web-based console.
