Customers on any flight using GuestLogix readers are now able to tap and pay for in-flight snacks and services using their NFC-enabled mobile phones, contactless credit or debit cards, or EMV chip and PIN cards.
The XPDA-SP boasts twice the processing power and eight times the memory capacity of its predecessor, the XPDA-S - the most widely used onboard payment terminal in the airline industry, according to GuestLogix.
Market Watch says KLM, one of Europe's top 10 airlines, has been a customer of GuestLogix since 2009, when the company first deployed its Onboard Retail Technology Platform and handheld POS devices across the KLM fleet.
"GuestLogix's Onboard Retail Technology has been onboard of KLM over the past three years and this renewal signifies our continued adaptation to payment card industry standards together with GuestLogix providing the technology solution available," said Koos Kruijswijk, director of in-flight retail and media at KLM Royal Dutch Airlines.
