Hacked off by bank account raiders?

Johannesburg, 25 Jul 2003

Reports of bank accounts being emptied by hackers are - despite South African press coverage to the contrary - nothing new. More to the point, a solution to help prevent your account being decimated is readily available.

Called Security Analyzer, it is a part of NetIQ`s multi-platform vulnerability scanning and assessment product that discovers and identifies fixes by providing more than 2 300 tests for systems operating under Microsoft Windows 9x, Windows NT, Windows 2000, Sun Solaris and Red Hat Linux. Systems are analysed on demand or at scheduled intervals. The test results are used to generate comparative reports, recommend security fixes and prioritise responses.

NetIQ is represented in SA by system integrator NSS.

According to Andre Odendaal, CEO at NSS, the NetIQ strategy is to provide an end-to-end security solution that allows companies to effectively administer, assess, enforce and protect all aspects of security in their enterprise.

"NetIQ, via its Security Manager product, delivers an enterprise security management platform, which in turn provides a central portal that enables correlation and management of security information across multiple operating systems, applications, anti-virus products, firewalls, network intrusion detection products, network devices and vulnerability assessment products," Odendaal says.

"Until now there hasn`t been a single portal for correlating and managing security information and incidents across the wide variety of security applications across the enterprise," Odendaal adds.
