This month marks the official release of a dynamic new online IT security service. HackRack was developed by internationally respected South African Information Security firm SensePost. The service has been cheekily dubbed "HackRack" and promises to help solve some of the most serious security problems facing the digital business world today.
"HackRack is like a virus scanner, except against hackers. Just like new viruses are created and released almost daily, so hackers are continuously discovering new ways to compromise online systems critical to business." says Roelof Temmingh, SensePost technical director. HackRack helps to significantly reduce this threat. "It's about managing change. Change that should be controlled but sometimes isn't and change one never could control in the past, even if one tried," Temmingh adds.
The HackRack delivery system is located at a high-performance site in the USA and continuously scans systems for security vulnerabilities, exactly the same way a hacker would. For example, HackRack detects servers that are vulnerable to worms such as Nimda, and can give early warning of the type of DNS hijacking attacks that have recently done extensive damage to the reputation of various prestigious financial institutions. HackRack is an extremely cost-effective, continuous, online, automatic security vulnerability scanner.
Although the service has been released publicly this month, HackRack has been successfully deployed at a number of large companies both here and internationally for a number of months. Says Temmingh: "It's exciting because we have a world-class service offering that was developed in South Africa and marketed internationally. HackRack is an international leader in all respects."
"Over the last two years SensePost has established itself as a global leader in security vulnerability-related services," says MD Luc de Graeve. "HackRack is the culmination of our skill and experience."
