Hall-Mark making move to convergence

By Tin Can Communications
Johannesburg, 02 Aug 2000

Hall-Mark Global solutions unveiled plans to integrate Dialogic's Computer Media server software, hardware and Computer Telephony applications into Compaq Computer Corp. servers.

According to Michael Aitken, MD of Dialogic distributor, Siltek Telecoms, Hall-Mark intends to market the bundled solutions via select VARs versed in both telephony and technologies.

"They were interested in high quality VAR's who could add to their program and who were willing to invest in expanding their technology expertise," says Aitken.

Aitken explains that the Hall-Mark initiative was one of several CT programs unveiled in recent months that aims to profit from a budding marketplace for convergence solutions.

"At its integration centre, Hall-Mark will build Compaq Windows NT-based servers with Dialogic boards, Dialogic CT Media server software and CT applications from independent software vendors (ISVs). The ISV agreements are under non-disclosure but will encompass private branch exchange (PBX), unified messaging and call centre software," says Jeff Bawol, VP at Hall-Mark.

Dialogic's CT Media is telephony middleware for designing standards-based PBXes that support messaging, interactive voice response (IVR), fax, automatic call distribution and other multivendor telephony applications.

Bawol concludes that the Dialogic-Compaq deal is integral to Hall-Mark's plans to partner with other emerging channel players including Web integrators, ASPs and ISPs.
