Hans Merensky outsources

Johannesburg, 21 Feb 2003

Hans Merensky Holdings announced today that it had completely outsourced its IT operations to Exordia in one of the largest ever Accpac-hosting deals undertaken in this country.

Hans Merensky Holdings, based in Parktown, Johannesburg, has a nationwide 250-user network. The central hosting service and the provision of the accounting software solution (Accpac) is being provided by Exordia, while the LAN network, the infrastructure and on-site support have been contracted out to Artec, a business partner of Exordia. The IT function was previously handled in-house.

Information technology is not one of our core activities, although it is fundamental to the success of our business," commented Danie Maree, Group Financial Director of Hans Merensky Holdings. "We view outsourcing as the most appropriate means of satisfying our needs in this regard, and know that Exordia together with Artec, will enable us to focus on our core businesses without the worry of handling an IT operation."

"We see more and more organisations outsourcing in this manner and for similar reasons," added Andrew Tucker, CEO of Artec Computer Systems. "Our key role in this assignment is the rationalisation of the desktop, the installation of the necessary software, the establishment of the relevant LAN network and the process of creating a 'best practice` configuration."

"We believe that this type of example of IT outsourcing will enable Hans Merensky Holdings to fully support its business processes with the latest technologies, but with the minimum of hassle, thus allowing it to concentrate on its core business," commented Richard Halton, MD of Exordia.
