Local Harris distributor IDXOnline, a provider of network security solutions, has announced that the new version of STAT Scanner Professional Edition now searches for more than 3 000 individual computer vulnerabilities, among the highest number in the industry.
IDXOnline Enterprise Solutions business manager Bruce Bean says STAT Scanner includes solution information for each vulnerability listed in its database, ensuring the highest possible level of protection for its customers.
"STAT Scanner, a vulnerability assessment tool that finds vulnerabilities in multiple computer operating platforms and applications, provides remediation actions and repairs a large percentage of vulnerabilities automatically. The product also offers extensive reports that range from high-level consolidated management overviews to detailed reports used by network administrators," he says.
STAT Scanner protects the Windows NT, Windows 95/98/Me/2000/XP/Server 2003, Sun Solaris, HP-UX and popular Linux operating platforms, HP printers and Cisco routers. It incorporates vulnerabilities from the Federal Computer Incident Response Centre (FedCIRC) vulnerability catalogue, the Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) list, the US Department of Energy Computer Incident Advisories Centre (CIAC) bulletins, the SANS Top 20 Internet Security Vulnerabilities list, the Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) advisories list, as well as the Information Assurance Vulnerability Alerts (IAVAs) issued by the Department of Defence and all branches of the US military.
STAT Scanner is the first vulnerability scanner to be granted Common Criteria (CC) certification. This certification enables STAT Scanner to comply with the US National Information Assurance Acquisition Policy, or NSTISSP No 11, which requires security product vendors to undergo rigorous testing and analysis to ensure their products meet strict guidelines and will not compromise national security.
"CC certification underscores Harris Corporation`s commitment to provide the US federal government with the most reliable network security tools industry has to offer in order to implement its homeland security initiatives," Bean explains. "STAT Scanner is also undergoing assurance continuity to ensure that the certification is maintained throughout the product`s lifecycle."
The STAT product line provides network security solutions backed by decades of expertise in information security. STAT vulnerability management products offer proactive protection of information and computer networks from hackers, viruses and other threats.
"The Harris Corporation has been protecting the US government for over 25 years," Bean comments. "IDXOnline is pleased to be able to bring the Harris STAT products to the South African market. We believe they offer tremendous value to high-assurance environments such as those used in national security and financial institutions."
