Harvey Jones appoints Datacentrix as BI partner

Harvey Jones, South Africa's largest Microsoft-centric business intelligence (BI) specialist, and a company in the AIM-listed Avisen group, has appointed JSE-listed Datacentrix as a BI partner.

The two companies have a long and fruitful working relationship: “We have worked with Datacentrix since 2002 when we distributed ProClarity, and they were our best partner,” says Reinald Bormann, pre-sales manager at Harvey Jones. “Our partnership fell by the wayside when Microsoft acquired ProClarity, but we have now reinvoked it, and the company will partner with us across all our product and focus areas. This embraces ProfitBase and Panorama and traditional BI projects.”

Datacentrix brings a great deal to the partnership, adds Bormann: “They are a major player in the South African IT market, with a strong focus on hardware and solution sales, and they have a dedicated BI team that will work very closely with us.”

The two companies have jointly targeted a number of prospects across the public and private sectors and closed six to date, embracing both ProfitBase and Panorama, the quick BI solutions Harvey Jones distributes in South Africa.

“These wins are indicative of the value we expect Datacentrix to bring to the partnership,” adds Bormann. “They have exceptional market reach across various market sectors and a tradition of cross-selling in their large client base.”

Black-empowered Datacentrix is a leading ICT integrator that provides solutions to corporate South Africa and the country's public service sector. It listed on the JSE in 1998, and has since achieved a 10-year annual compound growth rate of 31%, with annual revenue now exceeding R1 billion.

“The relationship with Harvey Jones is important to us as it gives us access to skills and a product set we did not have,” says Anton Jacobsz of Datacentrix Solutions. “Our focus is to leverage this partnership to assist our customers in building a BI environment that delivers on their business requirements while at the same time focusing on building our own team's BI competency until we are self-sufficient.

“We focus on the Microsoft platform and build quick BI solutions within this environment using the tools and front-end analytical products distributed by Harvey Jones. This partnership has allowed us to scale quickly and be very successful in the BI space. We have closed six deals in the last six months through this partnership and the skills from Harvey Jones.”
