HDS Expands Partnership with Brocade

Johannesburg, 20 Apr 2004

HDS recently announced that it has partnered with Brocade Communications Systems to distribute its new SilkWorm 3250 and SilkWorm 3850 switches, Brocade's new entry-level products for the Small to Medium-sized Enterprise (SME), and the SilkWorm 24000 Director, the newest high-capacity switch designed for large enterprises.

Fanie van Rensburg, MD of local HDS distributor, Shoden Data Systems, comments, "By offering these three new products, HDS continues to expand customer options on both ends of the spectrum - from small business or departmental solutions to the needs of Fortune 100 enterprises."

Aimed at SME customers, the SilkWorm 3250 and 3850 switches offer broad configuration options that can be tailored to meet individual customer needs, and are ideal for growing organisations that want to take advantage of SAN technology. These switches complement the Hitachi Thunder 9500 V Series modular storage systems, also targeted at the growing SME market as well as departments in large organisations.

Coupled with the Hitachi Lightning 9900 V series enterprise storage system, the SilkWorm 24000 Director is aimed at large-scale SAN requirements and is designed to support future networked storage applications for larger enterprises.
