McAfee, a Network Associates business, today announced that HealtheManager.com, a web site powered by KPC Information Technologies (KPCIT), selected the McAfee Active Virus Defense suite of products to protect its information technology infrastructure against Internet viruses and malicious code attacks.
HealtheManager will implement the multi-tier virus security solution to protect its 3,000 desktops, file, e-mail, and Internet Gateway servers. McAfee was chosen over both Symantec and Trend Micro because of the superior Internet security policy management and enforcement that is offered by ePolicy Orchestrator, part of the McAfee Active Virus Defense suite.
HealtheManager.com, which is currently affiliated with KPCIT and launched in June 2000, is a leading provider of health and fitness news and offers a healthcare provider directory, online appointment scheduler, online registration forms and links to healthy living sites. Using the latest in technology, the HealtheManager service is designed to connect patients to their physicians and improve patient satisfaction with the care they receive.
The site combines for the first time a number of online features designed to improve office and clinic efficiency, allowing patients to better manage their health and communicate effectively with their physicians. HealtheManager provides reliable, credible information in a secure environment and is designed to be a gateway for all of a patient`s healthcare-related needs.
Since all of HealtheManager`s business transactions occur online, virus and malicious code protection is especially important to guard enterprise and customer information. The use of the Internet has set forth an immediate need for global anti-virus protection to cover all points of entry in this network.

McAfee Outbreak Manager, which is designed to stop virus outbreaks before they start, will monitor incoming and outgoing e-mail for suspicious patterns and will stop new Internet-borne e-mail viruses solely based on behavior. The McAfee NetShield product will provide bulletproof Web and file server protection.
