HelloSoft releases WiMax tech
HelloSoft has released a new technology to work with WiMax system-on-chip designs, reports Telappliant.
It's a wireless system which may serve as a future platform for voice communications to be carried over the Web.
This will enable manufacturers to create products that also have the capability to function over WiMax, and ensure they are prepared for the continued use of technology towards widespread wireless VOIP systems.
From e-mail to VOIP
Software developer Yoomba has unveiled an application which turns e-mail messages into VOIP calls, says Telappliant.
The service requires a download which adds 'click-to-call' buttons to the user's e-mail messages and address books, which, when clicked, sends a message to the contact including a link.
When the recipient clicks on the link, the VOIP call is set up between them and the Yoomba user, and they can begin chatting.
VOIP flaw could lead to attacks
Cisco has said its Unified Communications Manager voice over IP software has two vulnerabilities that allow denial-of-service attacks, reports Tech World.
The software, formerly CallManager, is affected by two overflow conditions that could let a remote or unauthenticated user initiate a DOS or launch programme.
Cisco said in an advisory on its Web site that a workaround exists for one of the flaws.
