Palladium, the locally written and developed multi-user accounting software for SME businesses, is experiencing up to 120 downloads a month of the free, single user, two-company version of its accounting software that offers dynamic connectivity and superior functionality.
“This version has full general ledger, customers, suppliers, invoicing, purchases and cashbook,” says Palladium managing director Stephen Corrigan.
“The start-up costs of a new business are significant and about 80% fail in the first year of operation. They don't need additional costs, so we are offering them free accounting software to increase their chances of success, and we hope that they will take the extended user Palladium package as their business grows.”
Businesses in Ireland, India, New Zealand, Australia, the US and the UK have been taking the free download, and Corrigan adds that an approach has been made to a major bank to hand out the software to start-up business customers.
“The software has industry-specific charts of accounts so users can install those that apply to their business type, and with the bank, involved start-up businesses have an established pipeline to financial expertise and assistance and will find it easier to get loans.
“The bank also knows that when it receives statements from the company, that they are in the proper, correct accounting format and it can extract data on clients' performances as well as compare and consolidate their information across companies or even industries for benchmarking purposes,” added Corrigan.
The concept is proving successful in Africa, where start-up business numbers are considerable. Palladium allows the entrepreneurs to try the software obligation-free, and ensures full data conversion to the higher user Palladium versions once the start-up business has achieved sufficient growth.
“We've had people downloading, testing and trying out the software and then upgrading. It has been a successful venture both for the company and the software users,” Corrigan concluded.
