The Lenovo ThinkPad Helix is technology of many talents. In one light, mobile device, users are given the flexibility to work in any style they choose, be it tablet, ultrabook, laptop or, as Lenovo says, everything in between. This device fits neatly into a market that Gartner believes will see 40% of the workforce being mobile by 2016, with around 70% of these mobile workers using a tablet or a hybrid device by the year 2018.
"The Lenovo ThinkPad Helix is a well-designed solution for a market that's desperate for something more than just a plain vanilla tablet," says Mark Campbell, general manager for Lenovo at Tarsus Technologies. "It blends the performance and power of the ultrabook with the superb mobility of the tablet, and this is exactly what today's business user wants."
While Gartner talks of the cloud, big data and social, the likes of Lenovo are listening and creating products that can tap into the potential of these resources. The ThinkPad Helix offers up to third-generation Intel Core i7 processors, up to Windows 8 Pro, a high-resolution IPS display on 11.6 inches of gorgeous touch-screen, and up to 10 hours of battery life. Exactly what's required for a device that has to switch seamlessly between one business environment and another.
The storage facilities are also well suited to the corporate, with users gaining access to up to 256GB of SSD - wonderfully robust and shock resistant and adding to the superb portability - and up to 8GB of DDR3 memory. Thanks to the various ports and connectivity options on offer, users can also add additional storage for data backup, if they so require.
"The channel can't go far wrong when looking at the Lenovo ThinkPad Helix as an all-round business solution," explains Campbell. "While the device is in Stand Mode, docked backwards on the keyboard, users can display presentations and share data easily. It also comes with a digitiser pen that has 1 024 levels of sensitivity for quick and efficient data capture and note-taking."
The paperless office may still be a distant dream from the 70s, but today solutions like the ThinkPad Helix offer a far more robust and environmentally friendly way of handling office communications. The digitiser pen is sensitive enough to replace a standard one, and the Helix can convert handwriting into digital text for storage, e-mailing or for use in preparing presentations.
"In an always-on, always connected, always ahead world, the Lenovo ThinkPad Helix has all the features the corporate world could possibly need," concludes Campbell. "And it also maps back to the trends in computing that are being touted by the likes of Gartner and Forrester, as they firmly believe that the growth in the tablet market will hit record-breaking levels in 2013."
In fact, Gartner has predicted worldwide sales of smart devices, including both smartphones and tablets, to surpass the billion-dollar mark in 2013, and Lenovo's latest offering will be sitting right where it needs to be in order to take advantage of this growth.
