High risk virus alert - TROJ_SHOCKWAVE.A

SecureData, an erp.com company and the exclusive sub-Saharan distributors of Trend Micro, a leading provider of virus , announces the immediate availability of protection for the recently discovered TROJ_SHOCKWAVE.A, a new email spamming virus. TROJ_SHOCKWAVE.A is a portable executable (PE) Trojan that spreads quickly by spamming itself out in email using Microsoft Outlook. This latest Trojan is a variant of the previous Trojan, known as TROJ_MYPICS.

Many people will want to see the movie, so they will therefore click on the attachment, which is just what the virus writer is counting on. With Trend Micro having received reports from customers in the United States, they believe that this latest Trojan is "in the wild" and has developed detection for TROJ_SHOCKWAVE.A. Trend Micro customers who are suing the email content filtering tool, eManger, can act immediately to prevent the entry of TROJ_SHOCKWAVE.A with either ScanMail for Exchange at the Exchange Server or InterScan VirusWall at the Internet Gateway. The malicious code can be blocked by either filtering on the email subject header, message text, or attachment name.
