Hisense gives back to the community as part of Mandela Day campaign

Hisense forms joint venture with NPOs across the country.

Cape Town, 25 Jul 2014

Hisense, the global manufacturer of premium consumer electronics and home appliances, recently supported the Tembisa Tots - Bolamahlo Orphanage in Johannesburg, and The United Sanctuary Against Abuse in Atlantis as part of its 67 minutes campaign for Mandela Day.

The United Sanctuary Against Abuse is an organisation which acts as a safe haven for women and children who have suffered abuse. Hisense is giving back to the community of Atlantis where its factory is based, and together with the management of the sanctuary, identified what the most pressing needs were and supplied them with essential household appliances.

Hisense staff members have since committed to further aid the Sanctuary and will assist with the upgrading of window panes and the car port in the near future to create a space that feels safe and homely for residents.

Working with the China Africa Development Fund (CADF), Hisense spent time at The Tembisa Tots - Bolamahlo Orphanage reading books to the children and helping them build puzzles. The orphanage has 25 children who are in need of household necessities such as mattresses, blankets, a TV and six mobile phones for the carers. The CADF and Hisense worked together to ensure these needs were met and the children received nurturing support.

Hisense has made a conscious decision to take both of these organisations under its wing and support them wherever necessary on an ongoing basis as they feel that giving back to surrounding communities is a big part of what the Hisense brand stands for.
