Hitachi Data Systems named one of the world's most ethical companies

HDS recognised for demonstrated leadership in ethical business practices.

Santa Clara, California, 08 Mar 2013

Hitachi Data Systems Corporation (HDS), a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi (TSE: 6501), today announced it has been recognised by the Ethisphere Institute as one of the 2013 World's Most Ethical Companies. HDS has been named to the list of the World's Most Ethical Companies for three consecutive years. This list highlights organisations that outperform industry peers in ethical behaviour. HDS secured its spot by implementing and maintaining high standards of integrity and an ethical culture throughout its organisation.

"Hitachi Data Systems is honoured to once again be recognised by the Ethisphere Institute with this prestigious award that demonstrates our mission to go above and beyond basic compliance requirements for true ethical leadership," said David Karas, vice-president, Ethics and Business Conduct, HDS. "Upholding the highest levels of ethical standards is not just a business practice at HDS, it is a critical cornerstone of our company culture. Every day, our employees at every level of the organisation exhibit an unwavering dedication to the highest integrity and ethical standards. At HDS, we view this recognition as a milestone on the road to continuous improvement to reach even higher standards in the future."

"Not only did more companies apply for the World's Most Ethical Companies recognition this year than any year in the past, which demonstrates that ethical activity is an important part of many of these companies' business models, but we are also seeing more companies be proactive and create new initiatives that expand ethics programmes and cultures across entire industries, such as industry-based ethics associations and other activities," said Alex Brigham, executive director, Ethisphere. "We are excited to see the 2013 World's Most Ethical Companies take these leadership positions and embrace the correlation between ethical behaviour and improved financial performance."

Today's 2013 World's Most Ethical Companies announcement marks continued recognition for HDS as an ethical company and best place to work over the years. For the second year in a row, the company was named one of Fortune Magazine's "100 Best Companies to Work For". For the third consecutive year, HDS was named one of the 40 Best Companies for Leaders by Chief Executive Magazine. The company has also been named to the top 10 best places to work in the San Francisco Bay area for the past four years, as well as a best place to work in Greater China in 2013 and in Poland in 2012.
