Hitachi GST names president

Hitachi Global Storage Technologies (Hitachi GST) has appointed Stephen Milligan as president, states IT Wire.

The company says Milligan will be instrumental in redefining its business model, increasing operational efficiency and overseeing its business transformation.

Hitachi GST chairman and CEO Hiroaki Nakanishi says that as president, Stephen Milligan would be responsible for maximising investments, while delivering long-term value to Hitachi's customers and sustaining growth.

Dubinsky resigns from Palm's board

Donna Dubinsky, former Palm CEO and one of the original founders, is planning to resign from her seat on Palm's board of directors, reports Palm Inforcentre.

Elevation's recent $100 million (R1 billion) equity deal with Palm also included the right for the investment group to appoint an additional director to its board.

Elevation has nominated Rajiv Dutta for election to the Board, in Dubinsky's place. Dutta recently retired as the president of eBay Marketplaces and executive VP of eBay in October 2008, and as a member of eBay's board of directors in July 2008.

Zend appoints CEO

PHP developer Zend Technologies has appointed co-founder Andi Gutmans as its new CEO, says Business Wire.

Gutmans was most recently senior VP for R&D and alliances at Zend, as well as CTO. It also named Mark Burton, formerly executive VP of worldwide sales at MySQL, as executive chairman.

“I am honoured to take the leadership role at the company I co-founded years ago, when open source was in its infancy. Zend's enterprise-grade PHP solutions and our growing customer roster have increased awareness of the high maturity level of PHP and the efficiencies it brings as most applications move to the Web,” says Gutmans.
