This has been achieved through the integration of leading Apple service provider, NuLogic, into HNR Computers. NuLogic was one of four companies acquired by Infiniti last year.
Cassim Parak, MD at HNR Computers, says the timing of the integration of NuLogic into HNR could not have come at a better time with Apple's recent launch of the iMAC leading to an overwhelming response. "Our objective is to provide an outsourcing service to the channel allowing resellers to leverage off our skills and resources and profit from the new infrastructure.
"Through HNR's and NuLogic's combined exclusive and non-exclusive agencies we are able to offer higher level of support. For example, where an end user requires a specific configuration, we can assist by installing additional memory, software development or any other tailor-made solution.
"We are geared to offer the complete solution such as installation of memory or software either on new or used Apple machines by working closely with both reseller and end user.
In each instance, stresses Parak, the reseller will be involved in the new "build-to-order" strategy - a first in SA on the Apple platform.
Bruno Verolini, GM at Apple SA says the element of distributor value-add in the supply chain has been a long time coming in Apple's channel strategy.
"Apple has turned the corner and we are confident that we are now well positioned to go for growth with the introduction of the iMAC. HNR's strategy will complement our product strategy offering Apple the opportunity to market our products in regions outside of the major centres."
The integration of NuLogic into HNR Computers has resulted in the formation of Africa's largest Apple and Apple related product distributor.
The pilot project is currently being implemented in Gauteng and will be rolled out to HNR Computer's other major centres as the need arises. Parak believes HNR Computers has differentiated itself from the traditional distribution model in SA by offering a one-stop facility to the channel.
"We are creating a much higher level of loyalty within our existing channel strategy. We see the Apple Products Division being extended throughout HNR Computers' product lines and creating a true value added distribution infrastructure," says Parak.
