Home retailer Home Etc is harnessing IT in a drive to improve in-store efficiencies, stock control and customer satisfaction levels at its 12 stores.
The group has implemented Ultimate Retail Solutions` StoreMaster retail software solution at existing stores and is to expand it into another eight planned outlets.
Home Etc director Kevin Smith says 48 workstations are connected to the software and this is likely to grow to about 60 in the next few months.
"From a merchandising point of view, StoreMaster gives us the control we need to keep our stock at the lowest level possible, as well as enabling us to order stock on time to match demand.
"As a small retailer compared to others, we did not want to spend a fortune on our IT infrastructure in order to compete. What we have done, however, is roll-out a standardised, multi-featured solution that allows us to keep control between all our stores - and the system will be able to grow with us as we add stores.
"While the retail sector is buoyant due to low interest rates and consumer confidence, Home Etc needs to win business in a highly competitive marketplace," he adds.
