Home run - NetActive scores with Canon

Johannesburg, 10 Oct 2000

NetActive Limited has teamed-up in a joint venture (JV) with Office Equipment Products (Pty) Ltd, the distributor of Canon office equipment products in South Africa to bring to market a bundle of product and offerings aimed at small to medium size businesses (SMEs). The JV, called CanNet, was signed in August and will be housed in the OEP Group.

The CanNet transaction is in line with NetActive`s strategic partnership goal to expand its share of the SME market, by providing end-to-end IT solutions to its existing and new customers. "CanNet will enable NetActive to service the IT and services needs of OEP`s customers. The alliance will allow for improved service and skills levels within each company`s core area of focus, which will result in an increased value proposition," explains Lawrence Brick, CEO at NetActive.

OEP has traditionally been a leader in specialist in copier-technology, but with the advent of the new digital range, the company has broken the typical copier-solution mold and now offers a network printer, fax and scanner service, as well as copier options. As their products have become more network reliant, OEP has realised the need for appropriate expertise and skills levels to service their customers growing IT needs.

The OEP JV sees NetActive adding Internet and IT services tailored to the specific customer`s needs. The company has been endorsed by OEP as a premier partner, as their clients will receive a more cost effective and efficient total IT solution.

The decision made between the two companies was a result of synergies identified between the OEP Group and NetActive`s Business Services division. "We have an attractive range of value added Internet services and products that can be offered to enrich the offering to the OEP customer base," continues Brick.

"CanNet ensures a superior customer experience - through combining the skills and resources of NetActive and OEP, creating a value proposition for customers which equates to the convenience of having one point of contact and improved IT service and support."
