Home shopping company Homemark has unveiled its new Web site, www.homemark.co.za, where the company, the direct retail initiative of e-commerce firm eCompany, will offer its extensive catalogue.

The catalogue will continue to offered on television and through the company`s various retail outlets.

The interactive site, which was designed by fellow eCompany firm eCompany Interactive solutions, takes the form as a house, with each room displaying products associated with that specific room.

Visitors can also view clips demonstrating products and special offers.

"Having operated this business for seven years, we have the experience and technical knowledge to offer a fast, efficient service to our online clients," says Homemark MD Avi Ovadia.

"Based on figures from similar companies in the US, we anticipate doing 25% of our business over the Internet by 2002.

"We believe that our market is not limited to SA and that other countries, particularly those in the rest of Africa, will shop extensively on our site. Consequently, our prices are quoted in both rands and US dollars," he says.

Homemark says it guarantees delivery within 48 hours in Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal, and within 72 hours in the Cape.

The site, which cost more than R250 000 to develop, also boasts an interactive auction facility.
