Hotmail founders acquire MobiVox

Voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP) services company Sabse Technologies has acquired Canadian Internet voice start-up MobiVox for an undisclosed amount, reports Tech Crunch.

The news comes just three month after Sabse, which was founded by entrepreneurs Sabeer Bhatia (Hotmail co-founder) and Yogesh Patel, agreed to acquire Jaxtr.

Sabse Technologies says it will integrate Mobivox's solution into its own offering and retain most if not all employees.

Skype turns to business

Skype has cleared its interoperability certification with the Cisco Unified Communications 500 Series for small business, as part of its plans to expand into the business communications market, says Zikkir.

Skype for SIP will help the company expand its revenue streams into enterprise markets, something it has been unable to do under the aegis of parent company eBay to date.

Cisco Unified Communications 500 Series is a family of unified communications servers that serve the voice, video and needs of small businesses. These servers will route the calls Skype for SIP users make and receive.

Google Wave prepares for mass roll-out

Google's Wave collaboration platform will soon face its first true test when the company rolls it out to 100 000 consumer and business users, states eWeek.

Microsoft's Internet Explorer (IE) boasts the biggest market penetration at 67%, however, when Google rolls out Wave on 30 September, it's expected to encourage IE users to transfer to the Google Chrome browser.

British Telecom's Ribbit VOIP arm plans to release telephony-based gadgets built specifically for the Google Wave platform.
