Seventy six percent of respondents to a survey reported at least one instance of supply chain disruption during the previous calendar year. 23.6% reported cumulative losses of over EUR1 million during that period, while 13.2% suffered a one-off disruption that cost in excess of EUR1 million.
Those were some of the headline figures that emerged from the Business Continuity Institute's annual Supply Chain Resilience report, a report which also noted that 40% of respondents claimed their organisation was not insured against any of these losses while a 20% were only insured against half these losses.
The annual Supply Chain Resilience report, produced in collaboration with Zurich Insurance Group, has been running since 2009 and over that time has become a respected industry resource that considers all the challenges in building resilient supply chains. The report tracks the origins, causes and consequences of disruption in different industry sectors as reported by professionals working on the ground. It also seeks to discover the business continuity arrangements in place to build more resilient supply chains.
The BCI has now published the survey that will inform the 2015 report so please take just a few moments to fill it in and support the valuable research work of the BCI. You can find the survey by clicking here.
