Mastering Mambo

Tobias Hauser and Christian Wenz offer a comprehensive guide to using Mambo, the open source Web content management system, in their new book "Mastering Mambo", CMSInfo reports.

It deals with the creation of custom layouts, modules, Mambots, setting up an e-commerce store, making sites multilingual, accessible and optimised for speed and search engines, managing DOCMAN (the document manager for Mambo), and avoiding common traps.

Canada prepares for open source CMS summit

Canada is gearing up for the open source content management system (OS CMS) in Vancouver from 7 to 9 February.

The summit "was conceived as a place to gather together free and open source software developers who are all working in the problem space of managing Web content," says the official Web site.

The event will serve as a place for OS developers to work on specific projects, to organise schedules and meetings, spread the load of work, arrange sponsorships, and other duties.

"The summit is developer focused, free of charge, and anyone is welcome," add the organisers.

Additions to CM Pros board

Mary Laplante and Scott Abel have been elected to the 2006-2007 Content Management Professionals (CM Pros) board of directors, the international content management community of practice, according to CMProfessionals.org.

"Over the past 15 months, the organisation has grown to more than 600 members and continues to expand rapidly," adds the Gilbane report.

CM Pros provides information, expertise and support to content management professionals through peer-to-peer interchange, collaborative development of best practices, educational events, and knowledge resources such as a content management glossary and resource library.
