A recent report released by independent testing firm QualityLogic, has confirmed that HP LaserJets and HP Colour LaserJets deliver documents typical of a small/medium business environment faster from power save than comparatively priced and rated printers; not to mention printers rated at a higher ppm (page-per-minute) and at higher price points.
These results are a big win for HP, especially since the time wasted in waiting for a printer to warm-up from power save can be truly frustrating and have a negative impact on an organisation or department's efficiency.
HP and Tarsus are particularly proud of the performance illustrated by the Colour LaserJet P2015 as it delivers the first printed page after recovering from power save at almost twice the speed of its nearest competitor.
"The technology responsible for this superior performance is called HP Instant-on," says Adrian Delport, HP business unit manager at Tarsus, "and through a combination of smart heating techniques, conducting research into new power saving practices and making changes to its print engines, HP has once again proven its commitment to innovation is as strong as ever."
Delport says the benefit of Instant-on technology cannot be underestimated. "Many vendors claim excellent page-per-minute ratings, but have printers that take several minutes to warm-up before being capable of delivering on those claims.
"HP's products not only boast a high page-per-minute performance, but recover from power save faster than other vendor's printers, ensuring that users can collect their printouts within seconds," he says.
The fast power save recovery times are definitely starting to play an important role in influencing the buying decision and Delport says that as a result of this, more customers are switching to HP printing solutions than ever before.
"Customers and resellers are starting to realise that having a printer with a low 'time-to-first page' and quick recovery time from power saving is as important as class-leading page-per-minute performance.
"In response to this clear need, HP has responded well and today delivers the most well-rounded and capable printers in the game," he concludes.
