HP crowned VMware OEM partner of the year

Johannesburg, 03 Jun 2011

HP has won the VMware South Africa original equipment manufacturer (OEM) partner of the year award.

VMware, a provider of virtualisation and cloud infrastructure solutions, recognised its top African channel partners at the third annual awards ceremony, held last week in Johannesburg.

Andrew McNiven, BU Manager Industry Standard Servers, HP South Africa, said the company is delighted to win this award and to be recognised as VMware's leading OEM partner for 2010.

VMware Platinum partners need to reach a set sales target to retain their partner status. In order to help meet these objectives, HP and VMware have reached an agreement that all sales through HP as OEM are also recognised towards these targets. HP also implemented an electronic licence distribution of VMware into its systems during the middle of last year, which greatly reduced the lead times of the product.

“We also ran campaigns on pre-bundled hardware, in conjunction with VMware, containing server builds with a number of servers and storage. These offerings led to an increase in sales,” says McNiven.

“In the eyes of the reseller base, HP is not only a significant player, but it is the leader of the nine VMware OEM partners, beating other OEM nominees on the night. The award acknowledges HP's commitment to VMware, enabling customers to purchase goods from a one-stop shop instead of having purchasing via separate companies,” concludes McNiven.

HP's premier client event, HP DISCOVER, takes place from 6-10 June, in Las Vegas, and 29 November - 1 December in Vienna, Austria. The event showcases how organisations can get started on their Instant-On Enterprise journeys. In a world of continuous connectivity, the Instant-On Enterprise embeds technology in everything it does to serve customers, employees, partners and citizens with whatever they need, instantly.
