HP expands eco-programme

HP is to expand its Planet print cartridge return and recycling programme, along with steps to reduce shipping materials and increase transportation efficiency, reports ZDnet.

HP Planet Partners, part of the HP Eco Solutions programme, which is designed to offer customers free and convenient print cartridge return options, now includes authorised recycling locations for HP ink cartridge and LaserJet toner cartridge collection, in addition to other recycling options.

“As environmental awareness and customer participation have increased, we're proud to offer customers authorised retail recycling locations as a natural evolution of the programme,” said John Solomon, VP of Consumer Business, Imaging and Printing Group, HP.

ClearOrbit receives SAP certification

ClearOrbit's widely used Label Manager (CLM) bar code and RFID printing management software has garnered Powered by SAP NetWeaver status, states Marketwatch.

To achieve this, ClearOrbit demonstrated that CLM can be successfully deployed on the SAP NetWeaver Application Server-based J2EE Engine 7.1, which powers the SAP Business Suite family of applications and solutions such as CLM from ClearOrbit.

CLM is a scalable enterprise printing platform offering a configurable environment for bar code and label production and management.

Print industry goes green

The printing industry is more concerned about the environment than may be widely believed, according to the results of the ProPrint Reader Survey, with over 95% of readers rating the printing industry's environmental impact as an important issue, says ProPrint.

The ProPrint Reader Survey was conducted over two months to provide an insight into the printing and associated industries, with the response from the industry yielding an overwhelming agreement on the industry's environmental impact.

In response to the question: “What actions has your company taken to improve sustainability/lessen its impact?” nearly 80% of readers said they had already implemented changes to this effect, with 46% saying they had already implemented many changes and 33.8% saying they had just started to implement changes.
