HP facilitates Web printing

When HP held their annual Imaging and Printing conference in June, they announced a they're calling Print 2.0, reports PC World.

The future of printing, according to Imaging and Printing group executive VP CEO Vyomesh Joshi, is one where the definition of printing will change irrevocably to make it easier to print from the Web.

HP estimates that 53 trillion pages will be printed from sources worldwide in 2010. Because almost half of printing at home is from content on the , HP is looking to make printing easier for Web sites and blogs that may not be "print-friendly."

Canon sales soar

The Malaysian division of Canon Marketing expects overall sales to increase 12% to RM650 million this year, from RM580 million in 2006, says The Edge Daily Technology News.

Speaking at the launch of 11 PIXMA printers and two Canoscan scanners, executive officer and president Liew Sip Choon, said the projected turnover for the year translates into 400 000 unit sales from all its product ranges. This is compared to 350 000 units last year.

"We aim to achieve the target of at least [an average of] 40% market share for all ranges of products by this year," he said.

Panasonic debuts system

Panabiz International, a dealer in office automation and telecom products in Nigeria, has released its new WORKiO colour multifunction device, the Panasonic DP-C264, according to This Day.

In addition to enhanced reliability, productivity and security features, it has a warm-up time of 15 seconds.

The copier offers network printing and scanning, as well as copying and faxing and is capable of printing and copying both monochrome and colour at up to 26ppm.
