HP fortifies FlexNetwork architecture

has extended the FlexNetwork architecture it introduced last May, eWeek writes.

At Interop New York, the company unveiled new products for virtualisation, multimedia applications and enterprise mobility support to simplify to the latest Internet protocols, 10 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) networking and virtualised branch services.

Bethany Mayer, senior VP and GM of HP Networking, said: “Enterprises need a simpler networking infrastructure that's scalable and flexible to keep pace with the dynamic needs of business applications.”

The new switches from HP are designed to address the rising amount of traffic flow across servers in the centre, DatacenterDynamics says.

All include HP's latest intelligent resilient framework (IRF) software, which bonds four chassis together in the one switch - a development HP says is about further simplifying the network.

Michael Banic, HP global VP for marketing for its networking business, says HP is considering putting IRF behind its entire network in future.

The computing giant says its FlexCampus offerings deliver up to 76% lower latency, and 122% higher 10GbE port density with HP 3800 stackable switches, and improved performance and resiliency, while reducing costs by up to 35% with the HP FlexCampus Reference Architecture, CBR states.

An expanded HP FlexBranch portfolio of new virtualised service modules with technology from HP partners VMware and Citrix helps to speed the service delivery of applications to branch offices, while saving 21% in costs, says HP.

HP FlexManagement with integrated mobile network access control in HP Intelligent Management Center 5.1 streamlines enterprise access to mobile devices and protects IT infrastructure from mobile threats.
