HP today unveiled three new printers in the HP Officejet family in Boeblingen, Germany, which will enable small and medium businesses (SMEs) to create professional-quality colour documents for up to 50% lower cost per page than competitive laser printers.(1)
In addition to offering print-shop quality results, the HP Officejet Pro 8500 All-in-One series, HP Officejet Pro 8000 Printer series and HP Officejet 6500 All-in-One series offer small businesses laser-comparable print speeds (2) while using as little as half the energy consumption of competitive laser printers.(1)
“HP doesn't have a 'cookie cutter' approach to small and medium businesses,” said Stephen Nigro, senior vice-president, Inkjet and Web Solutions Business, Imaging and Printing Group, HP. “Our goal is to be a true technology partner to our customers, helping them manage, protect and grow their business every step of the way - with innovative products and software and unmatched support and services, all designed for their unique needs.”
Significant savings with new office inkjet printers
"The latest inkjet printers designed for small businesses offer improved robustness and better print quality than the previous generation. In addition, contrary to deeply rooted user perceptions, new business inkjet devices offer equally good colour printing in the vast majority of applications to comparably priced colour laser devices and often boast more features and lower operating costs,” says Associate Vice-President for Research Jan Siroky of IDC CEMA's Imaging & Hardcopy Devices, Document Solutions, and User Research group.
“In the current adverse economic environment, the favourable cost-value ratio of business inkjet devices in particular should appeal to SMEs, as colour printing has become an integral part of successful business and key to operations for such companies.”
Helping customers save up to 50% versus outsourcing to a quick printer or copy shop (4), the three new HP Officejet printers were recently classified as Highly Reliable by Buyers Laboratory Inc. They offer small businesses the best combination of features among inkjets in their class, printing at the fastest colour speeds (5) and lowest cost per page when using the highest-yield supplies (6).
As part of HP's Eco Solutions program, all printers in the new HP Officejet series include environmental features to help small businesses save money and resources, including automatic two-sided printing, HP Smart Web Printing (9) and easy cartridge recycling.

The HP Officejet Pro 8500 All-in-One series and HP Officejet Pro 8000 Printer series 6) are based on HP Scalable Printing Technology and deliver a lower cost per page and energy use compared to competitive lasers. With the newly formulated HP940/940XL Officejet Ink Cartrides, small businesses can also print professional-quality marketing and promotional materials without leaving the office.
