Hewlett-Packard has unveiled its fourth generation of OfficeJet all-in-one products - the G series. With 125% growth in these products over the last year, HP seems to have hit the sweet spot.
It is now adding three new products to the all-in-one range, offering ease-of-use with new printing engine power.
Available in May, the three machines in the family - the G55, G85 and G95 - will all offer the small office the ability to scan, copy and print in colour. The G85 and G95 also boast colour fax capabilities, while the G95 ships with a network card and duplex printing. They are all flatbed and the two without networking and duplex can be upgraded.
HP says it was aiming for ease-of-use on these products, with much of the functionality accessible from the control panel on the machines. Most of the engineering, however, went into the software, and HP is pushing this as a major advantage over its competitors.
The G series print up to 12 pages per minute and offer resolution of up to 2 400 dots per inch. The printing technology is based on the DeskJet 970 engine, while the scanner is similar to the ScanJet 5200.They all incorporate HP`s PhotoREt III technology.
They ship with USB support and Apple Mac drivers are expected in September. The G55 will cost R3 999, the G85 is expected to ship at R5 599, and the G95 at R6 999. The products are expected to be used primarily by home and SOHO users, and are designed specifically for one to five user environments.
