HP and e-business software provider Intershop have entered into an international alliance to jointly market the Intershop Enfinity software solution and HP Consulting services.
Roelf Kloosterman, managing consultant at HP Consulting locally, says: "HP and Intershop are looking to bring e-commerce solutions to business in, but not limited to, the retail, automotive, manufacturing and consumer goods market sectors."
Jacqui van Zyl, marketing manager at Intershop, adds that the companies will explore opportunities in the general business-to-business and business-to-consumer space. "This is in addition to virtual online marketplaces and other supporting solutions," she says.
Van Zyl says Intershop is looking to expand the flagship Enfinity with additional software modules. Potential customers of the offering will also have HP`s financing solutions available for use.
"Financing [solutions] allow companies to completely manage their technology lifecycle, to directly improve their cash flow and to move IT assets off their balance sheet," explains Kloosterman.
"We suggest that companies develop a plan based on procuring the technology, deploying it, tracking its usage and maintaining it for a period that is determined by the business need," says Kloosterman.
The solution will also be available in an application service provision model.
"It`s critical that we look to an ASP delivery model - after all, utility computing [where computing services are purchased as utilities like electricity and water] is starting to gain momentum," says Kloosterman.
"What we`re really able to provide now is a holistic solution offering. Intershop has globally-acclaimed software and HP has a wealth of global intellectual capital that helps in architecting and implementing these e-business solutions. Combined, it represents a solid bundled offering," says Van Zyl.
