The HP 9100C Digital Sender Allows Users To Easily Integrate Paper Based Information Into A Company`s Knowledge-management Infrastructure
Hewlett-Packard Company has introduced the HP 9100C Digital Sender, the first in a new category of office communication devices designed to address the emerging need to achieve the knowledge-management goals of today`s integrated workplace.
The 9100C Digital Sender is a compact network device optimised for sending black-and-white or colour documents. It enables users to digitally send paper documents easily to any Internet e-mail address, fax number, JetSend technology-enabled device, network printer or personal computer. The Digital Sender offers an efficient and cost-effective alternative to such typical paper distribution systems as fax and courier. Digital Senders are key to HP`s Digital Workplace strategy as tools that easily integrate paper-based information into the electronic world.
"HP is driving the development of the digital sender category in response to the growing need of companies to incorporate paper-based information into their IT-infrastructure," said Steve Midgley, HP marketing manager, printers and peripherals. "The HP 9100C Digital Sender incorporates all of HP`s extensive networking and imaging experience in a communications device that can send paper information to both local and remote locations quickly and easily, and without compromising quality."
The 9100C Digital Sender`s typewriter-like keypad allows users to enter recipient information manually at the device. Similar to sending e-mail from a PC, the digital sender enables users to type in e-mail addresses or to select e-mail addresses from an address book, and send paper-based documents as e-mail messages. By leveraging the global Internet e-mail infrastructure, paper-based information can be distributed immediately, saving money and increasing productivity.

- Five-minute, "fast-track" installation enables users to send paper within not more than five minutes of opening the box;
- To reduce network traffic, colour image file sizes are kept very small while retaining document fidelity through HP`s Smart Compression Technology;
- Uses the Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) to ensure universal file access;
- Links paper into LAN fax and Internet fax systems, eliminating the need for stand-alone fax machines;
- Integrated LDAP address-book manager enables real-time availability of corporate e-mail addresses;
- Networked, using an HP JetDirect 600N print server;
- Uses Adobe`s client software technology, which manages electronic copies of paper documents so they are easy to store, retrieve and distribute across the Internet or a company`s intranet.
