HP kiosk saves money
Hewlett-Packard is working on developing a shopping kiosk system to make shopping easier, called the 'Retail Store Assistant' (RSA), says al.com.
According to the company, the RSA kiosk would make it easy for shoppers to save money with coupons and sales, and would eliminate the need to cut out and organise coupons in advance.
Shoppers would scan their store loyalty cards at the RSA kiosk when they enter the store, and get a printed list of special discounts and shopping items based on their shopping history and grocery list created online from home.
Multi-channel consumers drive retail
Shoppers are driving a technology surge with demands for greater control and more interaction, says Talking Retail.
Retailers are moving away from cost-cutting solutions and adopting technologies that drive costs and satisfy the multi-channel consumer.
"A third of multi-channel shoppers have said that once they have had a problem in one channel, they will not shop in any of that retailer's channels again," warns John Davison, MVP retail industries advisory at Gartner.
One Step changes name
Scott Kreisberg, founder and CEO of One Step Data, announced the company has changed its name to One Step Retail Solutions (OSRS) in order to provide a better understanding of what the company offers to retailers in point of sale software solutions, according to PR Web.
COO Alicia Kreisberg says: "We wanted to re-brand ourselves with something that shows the company's experience and expertise in retail technology."
The company's vision is mostly the same, but there are some improvements to retail technology that led the company to expand and increase its target market.
