HP launches workflow solutions to boost productivity, security across enterprises

Key solutions for the public and manufacturing/logistics sectors will increase efficiencies and enhance security, management and compliance.

Johannesburg, 23 Apr 2009

HP has announced a range of software solutions to boost the productivity and management of enterprise workflows.

Designed to help customers eliminate the bottleneck of manual processes and streamline document workflows, the new offerings include an Automated Data Removal Solution [1] to support public sector organisations adhere to compliance procedures regarding sensitive or confidential information.

Through the solution, authorised users can capture, index and route documents from any location using intuitive workflow options accessed directly from the device's user interface. As a result, it reduces the challenge of the previous manual, time-consuming processes with lower-cost and higher-productivity automation.

HP is also announcing a Delivery Notification Solution for Manufacturing [2], which enables enterprises to automate proof of delivery (POD) document workflow. This document-processes-automation system offers better efficiency and cost savings with enhanced bar code technology that dramatically improves shipping, tracking, billing and auditing processes. The solution also provides businesses with visibility of all outgoing shipments and signed delivery notes. This notification of POD returns offers improved invoicing, online search and retrieval of documents across an organisation. Additionally, the solution addresses global and local regulatory and compliance regulations for securely storing customer information.

Derrick Kupa, sales manager for enterprise strategy at HP IPG in South Africa, explained that the offerings reflect the company's commitment to helping their enterprise customers improve workflows, manage their environment and optimise their infrastructure.

“Companies are searching for ways to drive efficiencies and reduce costs without compromising the level of security or corporate compliance to which they are also subject. These offerings can have a direct and immediate impact on productivity - enabling previously manual tasks to be fully automated, optimising the print end digital imaging environment for the volume and nature of jobs actually being delivered across an enterprise, and ensuring corporate compliance standards are extended to the physical, printed word and do not simply stop at electronic documents.”

Additional software solutions

HP is also announcing a range of supporting software solutions to further manage and streamline the enterprise workflow process, including:

* Output Server Solution [3]

Business processes and workflows will be streamlined further with the announcement of HP's Output Server Solution, a combination of well-integrated enterprise information delivery software that ensures distribution of business documents for all central applications. With this end-to-end unified infrastructure, enterprises can centrally manage, transform and process business-critical information from any source to any destination in a distributed and complex environment.

* HP Open Extensibility Platform-Management [4]

The industry's first solution that allows enterprises to configure fleets of devices using HP's world-class management tools for finding, discovering, configuring and managing all devices (including non-HP devices) in an enterprise environment. Building upon OXP-Device that allows for the same interface across all existing and new HP devices, OXP-Management allows IT departments to install solutions in one step. Users can configure and manage an entire imaging and printing fleet, including partner applications on HP devices, significantly reducing time and costs, in some cases from days to hours.

* HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 [5]

Helps administrators optimise device utilisation, control colour costs, set default PIN authentication, secure devices, and streamline supplies management for HP and non-HP network peripherals. New features of HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 include enhanced remote management capabilities, improved device discovery and configuration and advanced supplies management that reduces maintenance time and overall device deployment costs. In addition, users can remotely schedule sleep and wake-up modes to conserve power and reduce energy consumption.

* HP Universal Print Driver 5.0 [6]

The award winning [7], feature-rich driver now features HP EasyColor that optimises colour printing and improves print performance for image intensive documents. In addition, users can set printing devices to automatic two-sided printing to reduce paper waste.
