HP moves to Internet storage
Hewlett-Packard (HP) is unveiling a service that moves file storage from the computer to the Internet, says CNNMoney.com.
Thanks to its recent acquisition of privately held Opelin, HP is rolling out what it calls HP Upline.
The service will charge an annual fee for storing, sharing and backing up files that computer users might otherwise put on a hard drive, flash drive or other devices.
Nimbus simplifies NAS for SMEs
Nimbus Data Systems has two iSCSI and network-attached storage (NAS) appliances - the Breeze VH630 and the Breeze MH860 - for use in medium enterprises, says NetworkWorld.
Both appliances connect to the network either as an iSCSI appliance or as NAS.
They make use of 10Gbit Ethernet technology and incorporate Serial Attached SCSI interfaces on the back end.
Mobile Mini moves to merge
Mobile Mini, a mobile storage solutions provider, moved a step closer to a merger in which Mobile Storage Group would become a subsidiary of the Phoenix company, says Phoenix Business Journal.
The two companies announced that the waiting period required by the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements ended on 4 April.
The deal, valued at $700 million, still must be approved by Mobil Mini stockholders, and also is dependent on receipt of a new $1 billion asset-based revolving credit facility.
